Chargers News: Justin Herbert Applauds Teammate’s Position Shift

Trey Pipkins Impresses as Versatile Lineman for LA Chargers

Trey Pipkins has emerged as a key player for the Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive line. During the team’s offseason program, Pipkins secured the final starting spot on the line, joining Rashawn Slater, Bradley Bozeman, Zion Johnson, and Joe Alt.

Pipkins’ transition from tackle to guard has been a standout move. His performance has not only impressed his teammates but also the coaching staff. His versatility and commitment have been noted, especially his efforts in the weight room and his leadership qualities

Pip has been awesome. He’s done such a great job of picking it up. Whether it’s guard, whether it’s tackle, you can rely on him to be whatever we need him to be,” Justin Herbert said. “He’s done such a great job with that, especially in the weight room … His commitment, his leadership, the guy he is in the locker room, we’re glad to have guys like him on the team.”

Offensive coordinator Greg Roman has highlighted Pipkins’ size and football intelligence as significant assets. While Pipkins has shown promise during the offseason, the real test will come during training camp and the preseason when the pads go on.

For now, Pipkins has the backing of his teammates and coaches, positioning him as a crucial part of the Chargers‘ offensive line heading into the new season.
