Mick Schumacher in frame for F1 return as team boss admits he’s a candidate

Schumacher, the son of seven-time champion Michael, has two years of racing in F1 under his belt. Those seasons were completed with Haas but the American team axed him at the end of the 2022 season.
He joined Mercedes as a reserve driver soon after but has not had a chance to race for the Silver Arrows. Ahead of this season, he signed with up to the Alpine World Endurance Championship programme and will next month race at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.
And his new affiliation with the French team could help him to land a seat with their F1 outfit. Both Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly are out of contract at the end of the year and tensions between them had flared up once again after they collided in Monaco.
Ocon attempted an audacious but ill-judged move up the inside of his team-mate on the first lap. They made contact, the front-right wheel of Gasly’s car sending the other Alpine up into the air and Ocon was lucky that it did not flip.
