Kevin Durant kept the receipts.
Just hours after winning his fourth Olympic gold medal with Team USA, Durant logged on to X to celebrate and engage with fans. His series of posts included a dig at Germany’s Dennis Schröeder…and a photo of Grizzlies’ star Ja Morant.
Durant responded to a post from X user @SwipaCam with a photo of Morant from an oft-posted video of the guard telling people to “stay on that side” after a Grizzlies game. Durant had responded to a post from @SwipaCam after the United States beat Serbia in the semifinals, replying “where you from??” to a post that credited the Serbian team for its effort in the game
Though it was the middle of the night in Paris, Durant quote-tweeted @SwipaCam’s post celebrating Team USA’s Olympic championship with the photo of Morant.
And Morant noticed, later quote-tweeting Durant’s post with “talk to em !!”
Durant had 15 points in Team USA’s 89-79 win over France on Saturday, helping the Americans to their 5th straight Olympic gold medal in men’s basketball. The game was close until the final minutes, when Steph Curry hit four 3-pointers to silence the home crowd and win his first Olympic medal.
Though he was injured heading into the Olympics and came off the bench for much of the tournament, Durant was a dominant force for Team USA. He became the all-time leading Olympic scorer for the U.S. during the competition.
