Iga Świątek doesn’t want to stop! And she outclasses the legends

Iga Świątek tested the nerves of Polish fans in the second round match of the WTA tournament in Cincinnati. The Pole impressed in the first set, when she swept Warwara Graczewa (69th WTA) off the court, but at 5:2 in the second set she suffered a costly break.

Świątek did it again! And she beats the legends hands down. What a statistic

The Frenchwoman of Russian origin saved four match points and equalized. What’s more, she tipped the scales of victory in her favor in the tie-break. The Pole controlled her nerves in the third set and finally, after winning 6:2, 6:7(8), 6:2, she could celebrate advancing to the third round of the competition in Cincinnati.

And her impressive performance in the opening round allowed her to… increase her advantage over the great tennis stars in the prestigious ranking. Thanks to her 6-0 win over Graczewa, the Pole can now boast over 11 percent of sets won to zero in WTA 1000 tournaments.

“11.2 — despite the third set, Iga Świątek won 11.2 percent (27/242) of all sets with a score of 6:0 in completed WTA 1000 matches — the highest rate among all players (min. 20 sets) since the format was introduced in 2009,” reports the statistical service OptaAce.
