Former Heavyweight Champion Shannon Briggs Has No Doubt Who Wins Prime Mike Tyson vs Tyson Fury

Fantasy matchups always generate plenty of heated debate. Some come when boxers are active and hugely accomplished and therefore looking for an ultimate challenge to test themselves and ensure their legacy.

At other times it’s inter-generational stars who are pitted against one another. Speaking on Sway’s Universe, that’s what was put to Briggs, who was asked to discuss what would happen should a prime Tyson and current Fury come together.

It is an intriguing bout that would contrast the explosive power and aggression of a shorter man with the lithe physicality, footwork and ring IQ of a modern-day giant.

In his view, Briggs reckoned the power would win out.

OK, so you got what 5″11 Mike Tyson against a 6’9, what is he, 6’8″ Tyson Fury. I’m still going with Mike all the way. Hard to the body. I’m talking about the flesh on Fury’s body looking nasty. Mike ripping all that. And even if he block him, the elbows, Mike breaking all that, overhand rights, he gonna get him.”

Both Tysons have huge fights coming up. Mike takes on the challenge of a man half his age when he faces Jake Paul in a professional contest in November, while Fury is looking to avenge the only loss on his pro record when he rematches Oleander Usyk for the Ring Magazine, WBA, WBC and WBO world titles in Saudi Arabia in December.
