Another Formula 1 summer break has arrived and, once again, Max Verstappen heads into it as the championship leader.
But while his advantage over nearest challenger Lando Norris is significant, it is not because of Red Bull domination – as was the case in the previous two seasons. They now have three other close challengers and an especially strong one in McLaren.
That is reflected in the constructors’ championship where the gap has been cut down to just 42 points. Ferrari aren’t much further behind either and, as Sergio Perez continues to struggle for the leaders, it sets up a mouth-watering title fight across the final 10 rounds of the year.
But this power rankings list is not about the teams – it’s about what the 21 drivers who have raced this year have been able to do with the machines at their disposal. Yes, it’s 21 because of Oliver Bearman‘s highly impressive cameo for Ferrari in Saudi Arabia – you’ll be unsurprised to see he scores well on this list.
Of those 21 names, a third have won a race this year. Lewis Hamilton finally ended his long drought at Silverstone and George Russell’s disqualification at the Belgian Grand Prixbestowed upon the seven-time F1 champion the status of being the only driver other than Verstappen to have tasted victory more than once so far in 2024.
