The Team GB pair defied the odds to knock out Japan’s Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori in the opening round at Roland Garros on Sunday.
Murray and Evans were on the cusp of defeat after losing the opening set 6-2, before fighting back from 4-2 down in the second to win on a tie-break.
And they then somehow saved five match points after trailing 9-4 in the deciding set tie-break, before winning 11-9.
In new footage filmed from the stands, the British duo could be seen instantly hugging each other.
They each then let out a roar of emotion, with both fist-pumping, while Murray then screamed in delight at sealing a spot in the second round.
Their victory means Murray has put his retirement on hold for at least another match, with the 37-year-old dogged by injury struggles in recent years.
It was only last month where he had to have an operation to remove a spinal cyst, where he was advised to take six to 12 weeks off to recover.
But he made a swift return to Wimbledon doubles action, with the Paris Games poised to be the final tournament of his glittering career.
And Murray, a three-time Olympic medallist, conceded after his epic win alongside Evans that it ranks amongst the best – and most memorable – of his career.
He said: “Look, it’s probably up there. But I have turned around a lot of matches in my career where maybe I have looked unlikely to win or people thought I shouldn’t have won.
“At times, I have had that mental toughness and strength. I am really proud of that side of things. I have come from two sets down more than anyone in this sport before.
