Formula One legend Jacques Villeneuve has thrown a heavy dose of shade on Mick Schumacher’s future in the sport, suggesting his illustrious name is the only ticket for an F1 comeback.
Despite being on reserve at Mercedes and displaying stellar results in junior racing circuits, including a triumph in the F2 championship, Mick, the progeny of iconic racer Michael Schumacher, struggled to prove his mettle during his tenure with Haas. After collecting a meagre 12 points over two seasons, Mick was cut loose by Haas and now finds himself at a career crossroads.

With rumours swirling about a potential revival with teams like Alpine or the grand entrance maker Audi, Villeneuve remains sceptical, claiming Schumacher’s prestige rather than prowess behind the wheel could be the attracting factor. In a candid chat with Instant Casino, Villeneuve said: “If a team does employ Mick as an F1 driver, it’s because they want the Schumacher image and it’s in hope he’s better than he was at Haas. It’s a gamble that Audi might be willing to take.”
