Jon Rahm will be looking to record a LIV Golf victory at Valderrama and win his first title this year. The Spaniard, who has won at least once every year since 2017, hasn’t been lucky in 2024, but he will try to change his luck at Real Club Valderrama, in Cadiz, Spain.
The former world No. 1 had to pull out of the US Open due to injury and things didn’t go his way in The Masters and PGA Championship.
Asked about the reason for his winless season,Rahm didn’t bite his tongue:
“It’s not easy to win golf tournaments, I’ve been close. I just haven’t gotten it done”.
Rahm, the ‘Spanish weekend’ and a message to Alcaraz
Rahm also said that Spanish sports fans may not know “what to do” on Sunday, with a possible Wimbledon final featuring Carlos Alcaraz, the LIV Valderrama, and Spain playing in the Euro final. He asked the Murcian tennis player -if he reaches the final- to “win in five sets” so that he has “time to see it.”
Rahm also explained during the pre-tournament presser he would “like to be able to see Alcaraz if he plays in the final” – he plays this Friday against Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals – and joked that if he didn’t play in the LIV Valderrama he would have issues trying to decide what to watch, as he would have to choose between Wimbledon or the golf tournament, which will be held from Friday to Sunday.
