Novak Djokovic can equal Roger Federer‘s sublime record of eight Wimbledon men’s titles if he prevails at SW19 this year. While the Serb is now considered by many to be the greatest of all time, the Swiss is likely to remain untouchable in one particular department
During his playing days, Federer was a fan favourite at the All England Club, where he first triumphed in 2003 and banked the last of his eight titles at the age of 36. The final win put him one clear of Pete Sampras on the all-time men’s list.
But Djokovic’s relentless winning as he ventures further into his thirties has put Federer under threat. The veteran tennis ace is now on seven Wimbledon titles, meaning he will draw level with the 41-year-old if he notches another win this year.
Carlos Alcaraz goes into the tournament as the No 1 seed, but Djokovic is still considered the favourite by many. Even so, by one particular metric, Federer is set to stay out of reach.

With a staggering 105 match wins at Wimbledon over the course of his career, Federer is away and clear of numerous tennis greats. Sampras has 63 on his CV, Boris Becker has 71 and Jimmy Connors boasts 84 victories.
While Djokovic has the chasing pack beaten with 86 wins of his own at SW19, it would take a monumental effort to catch Federer before he walks away from the sport for good. Even a victorious campaign at this year’s Wimbledon would only take the Serb’s tally to 93.
