Jannik Sinner wins his first title in 2023

This is his seventh tour-level title

Jannik Sinner has clinched his seventh ever title and first of this calendar year after beating Maxime Cressy 7-6(3), 6-3 in the final of the Open Sud de France – Montpellier.

The 21-year old Italian, who has only lost one of the eight finals he has played at the Miami Masters 1000 in 2021, needed one hour and 36 minutes to defeat Cressy, who was in pursuit of his second trophy after the one he won in Newport in 2022

Sinner sealed the first set after a tie-break and then capitalised on a break to grab the victory.

The Italian star, who won 87 percent of the points played with his first serve, had already beaten his American counterpart at the Lexington tournament in 2019
