Grizzlies Give Injury Update on Ja Morant’s Hand

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant had a bit of an injury scare during Friday night’s win over the Milwaukee Bucks, as he went back to the locker room with what appeared to be a hand injury. Morant returned to the game shortly after reappearing from the locker room, which was a great sign.

Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins revealed after the game that X-rays on Morant’s hand came back negative. Jenkins added that Morant will ice it, and the team hopes he will be good to go.

With the Grizzlies having clinched the two-seed, there is no reason for them to play Morant in their season finale if they feel there is any risk of potential injury. If Morant feels good to go and wants to stay fresh, then of course Memphis can play him limited minutes if they believe that makes the most sense. The good news for the Grizzlies is that they now can take whatever approach feels best for their last game, as the two-seed belongs to them.

It has been an up and down season for the Grizzlies, but securing the two-seed despite everything they endured is a massive accomplishment. This is a team that has real championship aspirations, and they should feel good about the momentum they have built entering the playoffs. While there was initially some concern about Morant’s hand, he seems to be all good.
