Carlos Alcaraz makes his position clear on rivalry with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic

Carlos Alcaraz acknowledges his goal is to beat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic but underlines that he is not here to spoil the Grand Slam and GOAT race between the two. Now, Alcaraz admits he is dreaming of at least emulating some of the success that Nadal and Djokovic have been able to accomplish. “I want to beat Nadal and Djokovic, but I am not here to take any Grand Slams away from them or prevent either of them from being the best of all time.

I am just trying to write my own history. I want to win Slams. I am ambitious and my goals are big, I’m not going to lie. My dream is to be one of the best in history, to try to get somehow close to them. I know it will be very complicated – maybe even impossible – but in this world you have to think big and dream big.

In the end, that is my dream today,” Alcaraz wrote for Eurosport’s Players’ Voice.

Alcaraz has one Grand Slam title, Djokovic and Nadal have 22

At the US Open last year, Alcaraz became a Grand Slam champion after beating Casper Ruud in the final.

Going into the 2023 Australian Open, Alcaraz was considered among the top favorites for the title. But then out of nowhere in early January, Alcaraz revealed that he sustained a knee injury in the offseason and that he was forced to skip the Australian Open.

While Alcaraz was sidelined, Djokovic won a record 10th Australian Open and tied Nadal on the all-time Grand Slam record list with 22 Majors. Alcaraz, who will be turning 20 in May, is far away from reaching the Grand Slam numbers of Nadal and Djokovic.

But Alcaraz has already done some astonishing things and many believe he has what it takes to become the next great champion.
