With his admired resume in the sport of boxing, Mike Tyson was often pursued by the WWE. Since ‘Kid Dynamite’ made a handful of appearances, did the organization ever consider having Tyson as a wrestler on WWE?
In the latest episode of the Grilling JR podcast, commentator Jim Ross answered if Tyson ever had the plan to join the WWE. Ross, who labelled Tyson as a “bodyguard type of guy”, never saw in the latter a potential and regular wrestler for WWE. “No, I thought he’d be a body guard type, one-punch knockout kind of a guy. And that’s all I needed to see until the right hand, and I’m good,” Ross told regarding ‘Iron’ Mike.
In 2020, Mike Tys on made his AEW debut, confronting Chris Jericho with his entourage inside the ring. Since then, the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ made some occasional appearances inside the AEW ring. Speaking about these recent performances, Ross recounted the old times. “And he’s been back with his occasional appearances in AEW. I’ve always enjoyed it because we talk about the old times,” Ross commented by saying.
In the light of the same statement, Ross expressed how Tyson would have won “a lot of trivia contests from wrestling” had he participated in the 60s or 70s. “Mike, a lot of fans don’t realise Mike Tyson could win a lot of trivia contests from wrestling, in New York wrestling in the 60s and the 70s. He’s really really brilliant and he loved it.” Ross added by saying. What do you have to say about Mike Tyson and pro wrestling?
